Carrick on Suir welcomes you!

Welcome to the historic town of Carrick on Suir and your Irish Holiday House at 2 Hotel Lane, a townhouse situated just metres from the bustling Main Street.

No matter who you are or where you’ve come from you’ll be warmly welcomed by the people of Carrick.

You’ll be greeted by the locals with a hearty “Well”, which is the Carrick way of saying “hello” or “g’day”

The town dates back to the 14th century and is rich in history and tradition. It boasts the only Elizabethan Manor house in Ireland and there is a rich tale associated with this castle involving the famous “Virgin Queen” Elizabeth the First and a man named “Black Tom” Butler. Look under “Local Attractions” for more on Ormond Castle and other local sights worth visiting.

Carrick is also the home of the world-famous Clancy Brothers, who together with Tommy Makem were arguably the most famous folk group in the world from the sixties right up to the end of the nineties. The town has been hosting an annual Clancy Brothers Festival each May/June since 2008.

The town is also very proud of another famous son in Sean Kelly, one of the most successful professional cyclists of the 80s.
