According to OK Cycles & Sports’ John O’Keefe, the River Suir is “one of the best brown trout rivers in Europe”
You’ll need a licence to fish in most parts of the river but between the town of Carrick on Suir and what the locals still call “Miloko”, fishing is licence-free. From there up towards Clonmel you’ll need a licence to fish for trout (which you get from the local angling club) or a ‘catch and release’ licence to fish for salmon from the Inland Fisheries Ireland.
Fishing licences can be obtained from the Southern Regional Fisheries Board in Clonmel. Email: [email protected]

However, nothing beats local knowledge so you can always contact the members of the local angling club through their numbers on these fliers.
