Carrick a great place in which to walk. One of the local favourites is the walk along the river Suir between Carrick on Suir and Kilsheelan.
It’s 10 kilometres in length and pretty much on the level for the entire way. It’s therefore classified as “easy” It will take you somewhere between 2.5 and 3 hours.
On reaching Kilsheelan you can take a bus back to Carrick or – if you are up for it – make the return journey by foot! You’ll be ready for a drink at Mickey Pollard’s after that!
If you are up for something a bit more challenging try East Munster Way.
John O’Dwyer in the Irish Times also suggests this one. The first part of it is the Carrick to Kilsheelan walk and then takes you all the way to Clonmel.
